Dobson finished third in the 30-lap final on Saturday night at Allansford's Premier Speedway, enough to seal the series.
He had started the night third in the standings but consistency was his key. Leader Dubbo's Jeremy Cross had a horror night, failing to advance from the C main while Melbourne's Brett Milburn, second in the standings, was the last qualifier through to the A main.
With Dobson starting out of position five, he only had to stay ahead of Milburn, who was in 18th. Milburn finished 10th and second in the series.
Dobson was excited with the success.
"It's pretty special," Dobson said.
While Dobson was taking care of the series, South Australian Daniel Pestka produced a thrilling last-corner pass to take the race win from two-time Australian champion James McFadden.
Pestka had stormed from position 10 in the final.
