In a statement released this week, the Geelong-based MP said his decision to retire had not been difficult after spending 12 years in Parliament.
“It has been both an honour and a privilege to represent Western Victoria between 2002 and 2014 and I thank the many people who have encouraged and supported me during this period,” Mr Koch said.
“My retirement will also allow me to spend more time with my family who have always encouraged and supported me in public life. I am also grateful to friends and staff, along with the many members of the Liberal Party and my parliamentary colleagues, for their tireless efforts and counsel over the past 12 years,” Mr Koch said.
The MP’s upper house seat is one of five covering Western Victoria.
