At 9.44am on Monday a call was made to 13FISH after four people were observed collecting shellfish in the shallows at Port Campbell’s Two Mile Reef.
A total of 81 abalone were retrieved — of which 52 were undersize.
Associated equipment was also seized and interviews made, with full admissions.
A Fisheries Victoria spokeswoman said the case was another example of excellent inter-agency co-operation by Port Campbell Parks Victoria rangers, the 13FISH duty officer and Port Campbell Victoria Police officers.
Anybody who sees or suspects illegal fishing activity is urged to call the 24-hour fisheries offence reporting line 13FISH (13 3474).
