Sergeant Jason von Tunk said the black four-wheel-drive was eventually intercepted at 2.40pm by a Dartmoor police member at Drumborg, travelling at 150 kilometres an hour.
He said the male driver of the vehicle had been seen earlier driving erratically and at high speed along the Princes Highway between Warrnambool and Drumborg. “The driver was taken back to the Dartmoor police station for a breath test and had his car impounded for 28 days,” Sergeant von Tunk said.
“He’s overtaken an ambulance at very high speed and we have statements from the paramedics. We also have a few other people coming forward saying they had witnessed the man driving erratically and at high speed.”
Sergeant von Tunk said police were now compiling a brief of evidence and asked for any witnesses to contact Heywood police or Crime Stoppers.
