The meeting was transferred because the town's track is awaiting a major upgrade.
About 1000 people enjoyed an eight-race program and fine weather.
Colac Turf Club president Matthew Walsh said the club expected to host race meetings again in December after the track had undergone a $1 million revamp.
The Colac track has a number of holes and the revamp is likely to be the biggest in its 150-year history. Tenders for the work have been finalised and work is expected to begin soon.
The revamp had forced the club to run its Christmas race meeting at Terang, its Colac Cup meeting at Camperdown and give two race meetings back to the industry to distribute to other clubs.
The transfer gave the Camperdown Turf Club, which normally only runs the Camperdown Cup meeting, its second race meeting for the year. The Colac Cup was won by Bunchloch, which finished more than a length ahead of his rivals.
Bunchloch is trained by Karina O'Sullivan, of Stawell,
Bonnie Cerchi , the daughter of Colac trainer Bill Cerchi, claimed back-to-back victories in the style stakes when she won the fashions on the field.
