Buses will replace the 11.29am train from Warrnambool to Southern Cross today and will do so again tomorrow with the 11.43am service.
On Sunday, a bus will replace the 12.10pm service from Warrnambool as far as Geelong when passengers will board a train for the remaining section of the journey.
The 1pm service from Melbourne to Warrnambool today and tomorrow will run as a train as far as Geelong where passengers will continue their journey on buses.
On Sunday, the 4pm service from Melbourne to Warrnambool will run as a train to Geelong after which passengers will board a bus.
The changes follow V/Line’s new heat timetable for the Warrnambool service that came into effect in December.
A V/Line spokesman said that in high temperatures its trains had to slow down because the heat could distort the steel tracks.
He said people travelling on V/Line’s regional services on very hot days should go online to check their timetable and allow extra time.
