A police spokesman said the board was taken from a Tregea Street home some time between 6.30pm Friday and 7pm Saturday.
The spokesman said the board was on the verandah of the house, visible from the street.
He said a vehicle would have been needed to move the cumbersome piece of equipment.
The spokesman said the paddle had been left behind, indicating the board was stolen on Friday night.
The board is a 3.2-metre Honu brand, with a black base and rails.
It has a laminate bamboo deck, with grip tape three-quarters of the way down from the tail to the front.
It has three black fins on the underside and is valued at $1000.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Port Campbell police, or Crime Stoppers.
