It is believed the driver of a prime mover that was carrying woodchips failed to negotiate a left-hand bend at Madeira Packet Road at the Port of Portland.
The Adelaide man was travelling west when the accident happened at 10am. He was uninjured.
A light pole and security fence at the Port were both damaged.
Portland highway patrol, uniform members, CFA units and Powercor employees attended the scene.
Police said the truck was part of Porthaul's contact fleet and the company was assisting with the clean up.
