According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the mercury dropped to 11.7 degrees at 2.20pm, having peaked at 20.2 degrees about three hours earlier.
But the real chiller was the apparent temperature — 1.09pm it reportedly felt like it was just 3.1 degrees outside despite the actual temperature being 13.7 degrees.
Warrnambool also received 4.4mm in the early afternoon while almost five millimetres fell on Port Fairy, where temperatures dropped to 12.3 degrees at 2pm.
It was even colder and wetter in Portland, where 9.2mm fell between noon and 2pm as the temperature bottomed out at 11.4 degrees.
Hamilton didn’t fare much better, recording 11.1 degrees at 2pm as 4.8mm fell.
But before you decide to pack up the tent and head for home, better weather is forecast for later in the week. A high of 20 degrees is predicted on Wednesday, followed by 23 on Thursday and 27 on Friday.
