No one was injured in the incident, which saw the Mitsubishi Pajero knock down one metal bollard, smash through the glass double doors of the station and slam into the reception desk in the foyer.
The ram-raid occurred around 8.15pm and it didn't take long for the news to spread through Facebook and Twitter, drawing a large crowd of onlookers.
Senior Constable Craig Tobias of Warrnambool police said luckily the foyer was empty at the time of the incident.
He said the driver, believed to be in his 40s, was suspected to have been involved in a two-car collision at the corner of Henna Street and Raglan Parade just prior to the incident at the police station.
