YOUNG male surfers can learn from professional surfers for one afternoon next week in Warrnambool.
The 2013 Metricon Surf with the Boys Tour will be held at the Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club on Wednesday, March 13.
The aim of the program, which is part of the Victorian government’s water safety initiative ‘Play it safe by the water’, is to use positive role models who will pass their surfing and water safety knowledge on to young male surfers.
Team Australia head coach and RipCurl Pro 2009 runner-up Adam Robertson will coach at the free surf session.
World qualifying series surfer Cahill Bell-Warren will also attend to help develop the boys’ surfing and rescue techniques.
It will also teach them about some of the industry’s professional development programs.
Participants should already know basic surf skills and bring along their own surfboard and wetsuit.
The program is a joint partnership between Life Saving Victoria and Surfing Victoria and is for all ages.
The free program will run from 4.30 until 6.30pm, before heading to Apollo Bay on March 14.
Entries close on March 12.
