State Emergency Service deputy controller Bernadette Northeast said the boy had been playing on the top of a plastic tunnel in the new housing estate when he fell.
The alarm was raised at 7.40pm.
CFA and SES workers combined to dismantle some of the playground and free the child, who was not injured or in danger.
“He was probably aged between eight and 10 years,” Ms Northeast said. “His mum said he was playing on top of the tunnel, a wasp came along, he wriggled, fell down the back of the tunnel and he was caught between a wall and the tunnel.
“He could have got out but he landed awkwardly, with his feet above him. He was calm and relaxed and was happy to wait while we undid the play equipment and took the wall off. It all took 15 minutes.”
About the same time, two vehicles were extensively damaged in a collision at the intersection of Caramut Road and Raglan Parade in Warrnambool.
Police also located a stolen Holden Commodore burnt out at Bushfield early Sunday.
