Halls Gap moves to assure visitors

POPULAR areas in and around Halls Gap are open for business.

With the Victoria Valley complex of fires burning in the south-western region of the Grampians National Park, Grampians Tourism and Parks Victoria have moved to assure visitors to the region that the northern and central parts of the park remain open.

Areas such as Halls Gap, Mt Zero, Wartook and Dunkeld are all open and popular tourist attractions such as MacKenzie Falls, Reeds Lookout and Boroka Lookout are all accessible.

Grampians Tourism chief executive officer Will Flamsteed said tourism operators  were very much aware of ensuring the safety of all visitors to the Grampians, and hoped visitors realised that while the Victoria Valley complex was impacting on parts of the south-west corner of the park, a lot of the more popular destinations in and around Halls Gap remained open, accessible and safe.

“It might also be a good chance to further explore the region by visiting cellar doors in Great Western or Avoca,” he said.

“There are so many different experiences in the Grampians.”
