Former South Warrnambool midfielder Sam Dwyer will get his first taste of the big time when he takes to the field for Collingwood in tomorrow night’s opening round of the NAB Cup.
The Magpies last night named Dwyer in the side to take on the Western Bulldogs and controversy-embroiled Essendon in two mini-matches at Docklands. He will line up alongside the Pies’ big-name recruits Clinton Young, Quinten Lynch, Jordan Russell and Ben Hudson.
Thirteen members of Collingwood’s 2010 premiership side have also been named.
The mature-age recruit played five seasons with Port Melbourne in the VFL before being taken by Collingwood in December’s Rookie Draft.
