The Diabetes Resources Centre (DRCI) has organised the ball in conjunction with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and both organisations will benefit from the proceeds.
Co-ordinator Vanessa Buhlman said a portion of the proceeds would be donated to the JDRF to help find a cure for diabetes, and the DRCI would put its share towards a camp for children and adolescence with type 1 diabetes at Camp Cooriemungle later in the year.
“There are not a lot of camps for kids with diabetes, so this was highlighted as a priority,” she said.
“We are hoping to raise enough money to cover half of the insurance bill, so our aim is $4000.”
She said 96 people had booked tickets for tonight’s event at Warrnambool’s Wannon Rooms, which will feature music by Nick Van Zelst.
