Do you realise that without the original coastal shipping and commercial fishing there would be no harbour precinct to enjoy? And in fact no city would have been built here if it were not for our port, poor though it is and difficult to maintain.
No fishing would have meant no city, no harbour construction or maintenance!
When our city was founded in the 1840s its lifeline was coastal shipping, hence the construction of the breakwater used by both commercial and amateur fishermen to this day.
The boat and trailer bays will always be used intermittently according to tides and fishing conditions, despite your “scientific” advice, and are not a waste of space.
In fact, it would be pleasant if people would not park their cars in boat and trailer bays or on the launching ramp.
