Trains running from Melbourne to Warrnambool on Thursday and Friday will operate on a “Saturday timetable, with extra trains”, a V/Line spokeswoman said.
For full details on the changed times, V/Line asked travellers to check vline.com.au, call 1800 800 007 or consult the train times on page two of The Standard.
Due to the public holiday conditions, Boxing Day trains will also operate on a Saturday timetable.
The free Christmas Day trains had booked out,
V/Line regional manager Peter Gibson said.
“A small number of unreserved tickets will be available but customers are advised to obtain a ticket in advance and arrive early,” Mr Gibson said.
“Due to the Christmas holiday we can’t have buses on standby or call them at short notice, which means people could miss out if trains fill beyond capacity.”
