Officers from the Beaufort-based Pyrenees Shire Council are concerned over laws surrounding new homes within two kilometres of wind farms and have sought Moyne’s support in putting a case before Victorian Planning Minister Matthew Guy.
Pyrenees Shire wants developers of new homes to be built within two kilometres of an approved wind farm site informed of the potential noise impacts. The issue split Moyne Shire councillors on Tuesday night with some councillors wanting to join forces with the Pyrenees while others claimed the motion was unclear.
Cr Colin Ryan said the motion would remove uncertainties from developments within the two-kilometre radius.
The motion was lost with councillors Anthony Keane, Mick Wolfe, Jim Doukas and James Purcell voting against.
