Police said on November 21 at 3pm the group of 43 students and seven adults were riding in single file on the Great Ocean Road, two kilometres west of Peterborough.
The students were on a three-day ride from Warrnambool to Apollo Bay.
A Port Campbell police spokesman said the riders were between Halladale Point and Bay of Martyrs car park when a late model maroon-coloured station wagon approached from the opposite direction.
As the car, which displayed green P-plates, passed the riders, two men in the front and back left of the car hung out and threw several eggs and apples across the roof at students at the back of the ride.
Two students suffered injuries and the police spokesman said the eggs and apples narrowly missed the other students.
He said it was idiotic behavior which could have caused a major accident.
"If one of the eggs hit the children's face they could have been seriously injured," he said.
"These people just need to wake up to themselves."
He said the four male offenders in the car laughed and cheered as they threw the objects.
The male seated on the rear left hand side was described as having a thin face with facial hair and dark colored long curly hair.
The male seated at the front left hand side of the car had short hair and was unshaven.
All of the occupants in the car were described as Caucasian.
Police said at 3.45pm on the same day a Wicked campervan was traveling east on the Great Ocean Road between Peterborough and Nirranda South.
A maroon-coloured station wagon with green P-plates was travelling west and as it approached the campervan a passenger hanging out the right side window thew an egg which caused the campervan window to smash.
The male was described as aged in his early 20s, Caucasian, and with long curly brown hair.
