Thirty-five students from Years 7, 8 and 9, made their way from the school to Warrnambool. They will take on the Warrnambool to Port Fairy Rail Trail tomorrow and then making the return trip to school on Hawkesdale on Friday.
Teacher Heaton Jarrad said the bike ride gave the younger students an adventure in the final week of school for the year.
He said students had been in training each lunchtime for the past three weeks.
“We have done it for a number of years, but this is the first time we will be heading to Warrnambool. We normally head over to Mount Eccles and Macarthur,” he said.
“It’s just a fun, challenging way to wind up the year.
“We will be doing 65 kilometres on the first day, which will be a big test for the students.
“It also has a road safety lesson in it for the kids as well.”
He said the group would mainly stick to back roads on their trip to Warrnambool and would be accompanied by a group of teachers.
