The music and art series will begin next Friday with music by Liz and Warren and a live art battle between Vic Irving and Sid Sprague on the Civic Green from 12-2pm.
From 5pm there will be an array of free family activities and entertainment including buskers and performers, horse and carriage rides, a vintage car procession, craft market on the Civic Green and sidewalk markets at the northern and southern ends of Liebig Street.
A “snow” machine will also turn the Civic Green into a winter wonderland culminating, with Santa to light the Norfolk Island pine Christmas lights at 8pm before ticketed patrons dressed in sci-fi-themed costumes gather at the art gallery for the grand opening of the Invasion exhibition.
Most stores will stay open later than usual.
Warrnambool City Council business support manager Tanya Egan encouraged people to enjoy the carnival.
