Job Summary

With recurrent project wins and a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking motivated Dams Engineers to join our Melbourne AECOM Dams Team.

By joining our team, you will get mentoring and guidance from our industry leading experts in the fields of geotechnical, structural and dam design. You will also get the opportunity to work and collaborate with interstate (Brisbane, Melbourne and Newcastle) and international offices (USA, Canada).

Your role will include:

  • Conceptual to detailed design of water dams, retarding basins, service basins

  • Preparation of tenders and proposals

  • Inspection, investigation and condition assessment of existing dams including review and surveillance of monitoring data.

  • Safety Reviews of existing Dams, Retarding Basins and Service Basins. This would require the leading of multidisciplinary teams to deliver all aspects of the Safety Review.

  • Review of designs from a constructability perspective, and the development and review of cost estimates for Options, Concepts and Detailed Designs.

  • Management and development of failure modes assessments including participation in and management of risk assessments and the development of ALARP assessments.

  • Client liaison and management of multiple projects from small to large scale depending upon the available projects at the time. This would require the leading of multidisciplinary teams and the engagement of AECOM’s operations/finance teams.

  • Superintendence and Contract Administration: Assistance with these types of roles including potential short-term assignments on construction projects where required.

Minimum Requirements

You enjoy working in teams, and aspire to progress into advanced technical roles based on your specialist knowledge. You enjoy being accountable for your work and being influential in the project’s performance. You enjoy developing and nurturing relationships within AECOM and the local industry, whether through project work, client initiatives or industry associations. You are positive, and see challenges as opportunities to innovate, collaborate and grow. You are an active team member and are eager to take on new and different.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience in dams engineering and design (dams experience preferred)

  • Demonstrated capability in design, including the preparation of design reports, design drawings and specifications

  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills

  • Well-developed planning and organisational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (Essential).
