It’s funday Sunday at Merrivale Primary School

ON most Sundays, Merrivale Primary School in Warrnambool is deserted.

But yesterday about 1000 people made their way through the school gates for the Merrivale Fun Fair.

The biannual event raises funds for the school.

Organising committee spokesperson Anthea Rafferty said the money was still being counted yesterday, but they were  on track for a record amount.

“We have had an absolute bumper crowd,” she said.

“It was fantastic to see so many people come through the gates. For a small school we have had a lot of support.”

Mrs Rafferty said the volunteer-based organising committee made sure there were plenty of activities.

“We had Merrivale’s Got Talent, which had the kids doing all sorts of things. We had singing, dancing and even magic tricks,” she said.

“There were kids’ rides for all ages, which included Zorb balls, pony rides, merry go rounds and a giant slide. On top of that we had a range of stalls selling all sorts of things.

“And the fun fair raffle raised over $3000.”
