THREE Melbourne brothers will be interviewed by police over two alleged biting incidents during a pub brawl.
The fight at Portland’s Richmond Henty Hotel left one man with part of his ear missing and another with a severely lacerated nose.
Portland policeman Constable Jarrod Anderson said officers were called to the hotel on Bentinck Street at 2.05am on Sunday after two incidents allegedly involving the three brothers.
He said it was understood that a fight broke out upstairs in the hotel and security officers removed the brothers from the premises after one local patron had the top part of his left ear allegedly bitten off.
When the brothers got outside it is believed that there was a second incident involving different victims but the same offenders.
“Two victims were taken to hospital with minor facial injuries,” Constable Anderson said.
“One of the victims suffered a laceration after he was allegedly bitten to the side of the nose. He was struggling to breathe, there was a fair bit of blood. Both victims were locals in their late teens. The second man suffered swelling,” he said.
Constable Anderson said the three brothers were from Melbourne aged in their mid 20s.
He said one of the brothers was arrested and interviewed while inquiries were continuing in relation to the other two brothers.
“We are still viewing the footage,” he said.
“It could be there were two different people doing the biting.
“It was just simply alcohol-fuelled violence. We have no idea what started it all.”
The man who suffered the nose injuries is understood to have received stitches to help repair the wound.
Police are considering laying a number of assault-related charges right up to the serious offence of intentionally causing serious injury.
