Warrnambool policewoman assaulted at domestic dispute

A WARRNAMBOOL police officer was taken to hospital after she was assaulted on Saturday night.

The incident occurred after police attended a domestic dispute at a service station on Mortlake Road about 6.30pm. Victoria Police media said a 33-year-old Warrnambool woman hit the constable in the face, causing minor injuries.

The female police officer was taken to Warrnambool Base Hospital for treatment. The woman is likely to be charged with assaulting police.

Meanwhile, Colac detectives believe a dumped trailer could help them find a motorcycle stolen from Graham Rye Kawasaki last week.

Early on Thursday morning, burglars broke into the Colac dealership’s showroom floor, which is located on the Princes Highway.

Smashing the front door’s glass panel to gain entry to the building, the burglars took three Kawasaki motorcycles and loaded them into a trailer, which appears to have homemade modifications.

Security footage showed a white ’90s model Holden utility with mag wheels towing the trailer away on Rossmoyne Road, around Lake Colac towards the Hamilton Highway.

Two bikes were recovered near Weering and appear to have fallen from the trailer, which was found dumped on the Hamilton Highway.

The three bikes’ total value is about $30,000, with the missing KLX450R Kawasaki worth $13,500.

Police are urging anyone who recognises the trailer to contact Colac police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
