Pedestrian bridge helps span generation gap

A MORNING stroll with his great-grandfather has fast become a new routine for three-year-old Cody Sellens.

The Framlingham boy relishes the opportunity to walk around the town’s new pedestrian track, constructed last month.

Cody and 83-year-old Maurice Morgan have ventured out most mornings to cover the circuit, catching up with new and old friends along the way.

The gravel track loops around Framlingham Oval and was constructed by residents after a growing number of young families moved to the district.

Maurice’s daughter Catherine Stoddart said her father and her grandson regularly walked around the new track, talking about the weather and sport.

She said it was pleasing to see a “rebirth” of the oval more than three decades after the last regular sporting events were held there.

“Dad said to me recently that he never thought he’d see the day when he could walk around Framlingham Oval with his great-grandson,” she said. “The area used to be used for gymkhanas and golf, but in the past few weeks, people around the district have started to use it. We’ve had sheep grazing on the oval to keep the grass down for many years, so it’s good to see people enjoying the oval.”
