PLANNING Minister Matthew Guy has approved a rezoning application for a gas-fired power project to be built north-west of Koroit.
The $600 million station does not have a set construction date but looks likely to be given the go-ahead during the next 12 months.
AGL have spearheaded the Tarrone development which will be located along Riordans Road, between Orford and Kirkstall.
AGL power development unit chief Scott Thomas said the corporation coould continue its community consultation process and seek additional approvals and licences required to progress the development.
"We are very pleased that the Minister has been able to progress the approvals process and focus on positive infrastructure development for all Victorians," Mr Thomas said.
