The Mount Gambier-based driver holds a narrow speedweek points tally lead entering the fifth and final round of the competition.
Lines has finished first, fifth, fourth and sixth in the first four speedweek A-Main features, gathering 1055 points – 60 more than American-based Australian Kerry Madsen and 115 more than Warrnambool’s James McFadden.
All three are vying for the $10,000 speedweek bonus.
Lines, 34, said his team was in control of its “own destiny”.
“We got off to a good start (winning round one at Murray Bridge) and have been top five or six every night,” he said.
“A couple of nights probably could’ve been better but consistency is paying off.
“You try and put yourself in a position to get as many points as you can. We haven’t taken too many risks.”
Lines said WSS – a 10-round competition which finishes in Perth in February – was stacked with talent, making wins hard to come by.
“There are solid cars in there. Every night you rock up there are 10 cars that can win,” he said.
A Warrnambool trio will take confidence into round five, having scored a south-west trifecta at Avalon on Sunday.
Jamie Veal, Darren Mollenoyux and McFadden filled out the podium.
