The 14 employees of J&P Advanced Plastering have all been growing out their moustaches across November and have raised nearly $5000 to support the men’s health charity.
“We are raising money for men’s health,” Mr Scott said. “It’s an easy thing for us to do to help raise awareness.”
An original goal of $3000 was easily surpassed, after each participant contributed $50, plus $5 per share of a post on the J&P Advanced Plastering Facebook page. “We have also received $2150 in donations,” Paul McDowall said.
While wives and partners have not always appreciated the moustaches growing, the benefits have been worthwhile.
“I have had weddings to attend the last three weeks,” Mr Scott said. “My wife won’t stand with me.”
Paul McDowall said that some of the staff knew people who had problems with mental health and depression.
“There will be a few lads who keep the mo,” Mr McDowall said. “A lot are involved in clubs where people have had health problems”.
“It’s good for the boys to understand why we are growing the mo,” Mr Scott said. “I’m happy that all of the boys have stuck with it. They’re all pretty young, under 25.
“It’s great to go to a job site and look like a team.”
