Flower shop adds to central Warrnambool purple patch

ANOTHER vacant central Warrnambool shop space will be filled when The Flower Gallery moves into part of the former Blockbuster store on Koroit Street.

Monday’s opening will help restore vibrancy to the area and follows Melbourne-based Ishka’s move late last month into the former vacant shoe warehouse on the opposite side of  Koroit Street at the Kepler Street corner.

Flower Gallery owners Geoff Rounds and Tania Ludeman said they had been looking for a new site with more shopper traffic.

“We are excited by the opportunity to add something good to the CBD,” Mr Rounds said.

“The florist business has been operating at Lava Street for more than 25 years and the founding owners Brett and Heather Jensen are helping us set up in Koroit Street.

“We’ll retain head florist Maureen O’Connor, who has been here from the start.

“There’ll be a fresh approach to the business in a fresh location.

“We have been expanding sales through the internet, with customers as far as Princetown.

“With Ishka on the other side of the street we call it the purple patch because of   similar colour scheme in both stores.”
