A group of grade five and six girls practiced their push ups, burpees and squats at CrossFit Warrnambool on Monday to help promote the This Girl Can Campaign.
The activity was organised by teacher Melinda Louden, who is an ambassador of the VicHealth campaign that aims to empower women to get active and overcome any feelings of judgement when exercising.
“Some of the girls were a bit apprehensive about coming at first, but there were a lot of smiles in the room by the end of the day,” Ms Louden said.
“The girls all had a really good time and it was great to be able to take part in an activity that’s a little bit different, in an environment that is really positive and supportive.”
The CrossFit session was held by head coach Dionne Goyen, who is a former student at Warrnambool West Primary School.
