BMX and contraptions rider Kurtis Downs and mountain bike rider Dusty Wygle delighted the happy horde of children as they performed tricks during a media call.
Excitement is building for Saturday’s Next Level tour show at Reid Oval, which features motocross superstar Travis Pastrana as well as the biggest ramps on earth.
Downs, who is from Idaho USA, has won three out of four mini competitions held during the show.
He said he was a country boy at heart, having grown up on a farm.
“I found BMX when I graduated high school,” he said.
“I’ve been riding ever since. It’s been about eight years and now I found myself here.”
He said there was plenty for fans to look forward to.
“The Warrnambool show is going to be really exciting,” Downs said.
“I actually have a few tricks that I am going to try. I’ve been trying to do a few new ones at every single show and keep my show plan a little more versatile throughout the tour.”
Downs said the freestyle motocross big ramp was sure to be a highlight.
“All of them have something that is going to be a surprise,” he said.
“And for the BMX side of things we have just been having a contest which keeps it interesting at every single show.”
Warrnambool City Council mayor Robert Anderson said Nitro Circus was “without a doubt a world class event”.
“Events like Nitro Circus illustrate the council’s commitment to supporting the right mix of events and activities across the entire year,” he said.
“The fact that Warrnambool is one of only eight Australian cities chosen to host the 2018 Next Level Tour speaks volumes about the city’s capacity to host major events.
“For the local community, being able to see performers of the calibre of Pastrana and the Nitro Circus in their own backyard will be a treat. It will also be a huge drawcard for thousands of visitors to spend the weekend in Warrnambool.”
Tickets to the show are still available online and will also be for sale on Saturday at the gate at Reid Oval. It kicks off at 3pm, with gates open from 12.30pm.
