Moyne Shire Council has released a development design plan for the park and surrounding areas.
The skate park is located across the road from the Koroit Railway Station precinct, which includes a children’s playground and the Warrnambool to Port Fairy Rail Trail. The popularity of the skate park since it opened in May last year has caused some traffic concerns, with cars parking either side of Bourke Avenue, creating congestion.
The council has a budget of over $256,000 for the development of the area. This includes the reconfiguration of the Bourke and Station streets intersection, a pram crossing point, the construction of a half basketball court and the installation of tables and seating. Car parking spaces will be created at the skate park and the railway station. Public submissions are now being taken on the development plans.
