TOURISM industry leaders in Warrnambool were to use a visit by the Victoria tourism minister to the city to push for the development of a new orientation centre at Flagstaff Hill.

IT was a case of turning back the clock at the Lady Bay Hotel with 1970s Australian group Masters Apprentices playing at the venue as part of their comeback tour. Rodney Vincent was playing at the South Rovers Football Clubrooms and the Garvoc Hotel had live Irish music.

MORTLAKE Football Club coach Gerard Fitzgerald was confident his team could make an impact in 1988.
“I think the main thing now is, that the standard at training is far higher than this time last year. The players are expecting to do well whereas last year they were pessimistic,” Fitzgerald said ahead of the club’s first game of the season.
VICTORIA Park in Koroit was transformed into a cricketing mecca with the annual Jack Keane Day taking place. The day was named in honour of the town’s most decorated cricketer and had teams from clubs and groups in the town competing.
