Russells Creek skipper Cam Williams hopes the old adage rings true as his men chase grand final redemption against Allansford this weekend.
Williams’ men harbour the hopes of a club without a division one premiership in its 40-year history.
Confidence is flowing, but Williams is quick to remind his men of the challenge before them.
“I know the Reid Oval will be a good wicket, and it should be pretty true. I want us to stay on top of their quick bowlers and try to negate where we can,” he said.
“Grand finals are funny. You can be in front, or you can fall away. It’s an emotional rollercoaster and we’re prepared to be a part of it.
“We’re hoping we can come away with a cup.”
Allansford skipper Chris Bant was hopeful the experience at his disposal would benefit the club’s chances.
“It’s good to know that regardless of the situation we’re in, we’re probably not going to panic too much about it,” Bant said.
“We’ll think our way through it and hopefully see it off.”
