Adult education provider South West Victoria SEAL will cease to exist, bringing to an end its 50-year life span.
The SEAL board of management made the decision to invite Hamilton-based Southern Grampians Adult Education Inc. (SGAE) to take up the offer of the transfer of management of SEAL services at its Hyland Street home.
The transfer has come after SEAL was judged no longer financially viable.
One full-time and four part-time positions have been lost through SEAL’s departure.
SGAE has promised to maintain all courses offered by SEAL and said it would be business as usual for tenants at the Hyland Street site including community radio station 3WAY FM, Warrnambool Men’s Shed and the community kitchen.
SEAL committee of management president Lisa Owen thanked those who had been part of the journey over half a century.
“This, of course, is a bitter sweet moment for us all,” Ms Owen said.
“We welcome Southern Grampians Adult Education to Warrnambool and wish them very well for all the educational years to come.
“They are ready to take up the mantle and continue to provide the Warrnambool community with the courses and programs upon which it has come to depend.”
