The teenage guard, on exchange at Mortlake College, will pull on the Mermaids’ guernsey and step onto the boards at the Arc for the first time on Saturday night.
Christiansen has been training with head coach Louise Brown’s division one squad since the start of February with the Mermaids coach waiting on a response from Basketball Australia as to whether she could play the Dane.
Brown said the teenager would add to her side.
“We got her cleared earlier in the week so she will just add a bit more depth to our guard rotations,” she said.
“She is a bit of an all-rounder, she is a nice shooter, can get to the basket, she can play at both ends of the court and she is a smart basketballer.
“I’m excited to see her on the court and I know she is really excited too.”
Brown said she would rotate Christiansen through the guard positions.
“She will play a little in the point position and through all three guard spots,” she said. “I’d like to see her play some point guard and then I’d like to see her out on open floor running the lanes in the two-three spot and spotting up to shoot the ball.”
The Mermaids host a Casey, while the Seahawks are also at home for their second match at the Arc against Bulleen.
