Maddens Lawyers said it was looking into legal action against Powercor over the Garvoc and Terang fires.
Police investigations have confirmed the Garvoc fire was started by power pole that snapped in high winds. The Terang fire was caused after power lines clashed and arced, leading to molten metal falling to ground.
Maddens Lawyers principal Brendan Pendergast, who successfully sought compensation for south-west landowners after Black Saturday, said the firm was looking for people to register their interest in potential legal action.
Two public meetings will be held at the Terang Civic Hall on Wednesday. The meeting on the Garvoc fire will be held at 11am, before a meeting on the Terang fire at 1.30pm.
“We… encourage any property owners impacted by the fire, via damage to property, pastures, fences, trees, livestock or otherwise, to attend the meeting and register their interest in potential legal action,” Mr Pendergast said.
“The meeting will provide the opportunity to discuss the process and legal aspects of compensation claims and to register with us. Registering will ensure property owners are kept up to date on our investigations in to the legal implications of the fire and its causes.”
