Netball Victoria’s Play Festival Roadshow will hit Warrnambool’s netball courts this Sunday, with the sporting body offering an opportunity for all young south-west kids the chance to rock up and have a go at netball.
Netball Victoria spokesperson Tommy Casha said that the casual nature the festival adopted was a good incentive for parents to register their kids.
“So many women have played netball and had kids and want to return to netball,” he said. “Usually they don't know how to go about it, so this is that avenue back into the sport, where the kids can just rock up, play and meet some friends.
“It's a fun social day out for the kids, and we know healthy exercise is extremely important for them. They have ability run around and be active and be fit by simply registering online and rocking up on the day.”
The day will consist of three levels rock up Netball, drills and skills and NetSetGo clinic, with Melbourne Vixens player Khao Watts helping out on the day.
Rock Up Netball will be a fun and social pop-up tournament for those 15-years and older from 1.30pm to 2.15pm.
Drills and skills focuses on the fundamental skills of netball including attacking, defending, shooting and ball handling with the clinic open to 10 to 15-year-olds from 12.15pm.
NetSetGO provides children 5 to 10 years with a positive introduction to netball at 11am.
