Luke Alan Brennan, 38, of Laverock Road, appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court and admitted a range of fraud and drug charges.
He was placed on a 12-month community corrections order, with conditions he do 120 hours of community work as well as assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and programs as requested.
Police said that between October 20 and 23 last year a burglary was committed at the St Vincent de Paul shop in Fairy Street.
Food voucher books were stolen that can be used to obtain groceries from the Warrnambool IGA supermarket.
On November 27 Brennan went to the supermarket and got groceries worth $160.
Staff didn't know the food vouchers were stolen.
On December 8 Brennan returned and tried to get more groceries but he was told the vouchers had to be stamped for approval.
He left the groceries, but did not return to collect them after leaving a false name.
Brennan was identified, police executed a search warrant at his home and found the voucher books and some jewellery that had been stolen in a burglary from the Fletcher Jones market complex.
