The former Koroit musician is also a community engagement officer with the CFA and she has been in the region this week helping people affected by the fires.
In her role she travels with the mobile engagement unit – a big red CFA bus – to fire-affected towns and offers information and help to residents.
“We act as a public information point during an emergency,” Ms Dwyer said.
“Throughout the rest of the year we take the bus around Victoria and talk to people about fire safety.”
Ms Dwyer, who now lives in Melbourne, said plenty of people had visited the bus over the past few days since fires started on Saturday evening.
“People are asking us what to do if this happens again,” she said.
“We say leave early and watch out for the warnings and advice alerts.”
