A restricted steeplechase and two hurdle races are the highlights on the eight race program.
Tough jumpers Mannertone, Undergroundfighter and I’ll’ava’alf have to match motors with up-and-coming steeplechaser Trouble Bound in a restricted steeplechase while 2016 Galleywood Hurdle winner Valediction resumes for Gai Waterhouse after two hurdle trials in an open hurdle.
Trainer Anne McGrath said she was upbeat about Mannertone’s chances after a solid jumps trial at Warrnambool last Friday.
“I was very happy with his trial,” McGrath said.
“I was a bit disappointed about Mannertone’s jumps season last year.
“He meets I’ll’ava’alf a bit better on weights compared to last season but we would need to as l’ll’ava’alf is a handy type. I think Mannertone may need this outing.
“I’ll be setting Mannertone for the Brierly Steeplechase at Warrnambool in May. I think he may need this outing before he’s at his top.”
