Folkie: The 42nd Annual Port Fairy Folk Festival will run across the weekend. The four-day event will feature more than 120 acts including Mental as Anything, The Black Sorrows, Steve Poltz, Troy Cassar-Daley, Sophie Koh and The Hillbilly Goats performing across 11 stages in the festival arena at Southcombe Park. The festivities will also spread out across eight different Port Fairy locations hosting fringe festival activities. The “Folkie” begins on Friday afternoon at 4pm and is set to wind up on Monday at 2.45pm. 


Beach: Thousands of competitors and spectators are expected to flock to Warrnambool’s main beach across the weekend as 52 Victorian clubs compete in the Junior Surf Life-Saving championships. Events begin at 8am on Saturday and run through to 5pm on Sunday with family-friendly activities held in the evenings.

Vintage: The South Western District Restoration Group are hosting their 42nd Vintage Annual Rally and tractor pull at Racecourse Park Rally Ground, Grayland Road, Cobden. The two-day event will feature vintage cars, trucks, tractors, sheep sheering and steam engines as well as hot food stalls from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Worndoo: The Worndoo School will be home to all things vintage on Saturday when its grounds host ‘Ye Old Fashioned Country Fair’ from 10am to 4pm. Vintage clothing, classic cars and motorcycles, displays, stalls, a jumble sale, children’s races and guessing competitions will be accompanied by live music from 1.30pm.

Photography: The F Project Gallery is hosting a family photography workshop from 10am to 12 noon.

Rodeo: The Dunkeld Race Course is hosting the Sturgeon Stampede on Saturday from 3pm. Live music and mechanical bull rides will run throughout the evening until the final race at 9pm.  

Hamilton: The Hamilton Performing Arts Centre is presenting A Midsummer Nights Dream Under the Stars at the Hamilton Botanic Gardens from 8pm.


Speedway: Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway is hosting the Victorian Sprintcar Series Final on Sunday with gates opening at 4pm, and racing from 5pm.

Thai: The Warrnambol Thai community will come together on Sunday to celebrate the Thai New Year. The day will be held at Lake Pertobe, beginning at 10am and running through to 4pm. Food stalls and Thai dancing and music will be part of the fun. Thai massage will be available and an exhibition of Thai sword fighting is also on the agenda.
