Nineteen athletes from the club will make the trek to Melbourne to take on the state’s best junior athletics stars.
Team manager Jacinta Roach said the club had one of its strongest all-round teams in years.
“We have a number of high-quality athletes representing the club,” she said.
“We also have some first-timers going that are really excited about running.
“Hopefully the team performs really well and gets a few new personal bests.”
Roach said the trip would be rewarding for the club’s up and coming stars.
“It’s a good chance for the kids to test themselves against the best athletes in the state,” she said.
“It’s also a chance for them to see and learn from the best.”
Sam Carter will be the busiest Warrnambool athlete, competing in four events (200, 400, 800 and 1500 metres).
Layla Watson will also be kept on her toes, competing in three events (100, 200 and 400 metres).
