Considering what she’s achieved in her personal life – overcoming the adversity of a tough childhood to become an inspiring, accomplished woman – she is well-placed to fulfill that mission.
Ms Burt will share nuggets of wisdom about issues ranging from money to the need for women to put themselves first, stories from her life and will pay tribute to the women who shaped her as the guest speaker at an International Women’s Day event on Thursday evening.
Her achievements include a 17-year nursing career, starting two successful business from scratch including Pulse CPR and playing a key role in multiple netball premierships for Dennington and East Warrnambool in the WDFNL.
Ms Burt said she wants people to come away believing they can make it no matter where they’ve come from.
The evening will also feature a screening of Battle of the Sexes, a 2017 film exploring a 1973 tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs that shone a light on inequality between men and women.
The evening, organised by Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West, will begin at 5.30pm with live music, food, door prizes and goodie bags. Ms Burt’s speech will take place before Battle of the Sexes starts at 7pm. Visit trybooking.com/TUTK to purchase tickets at $15 or for more information.
