Merrivale appeals loss of points

MERRIVALE Cricket Club has appealed against a fine and loss of points for a team sheet oversight against Nirranda.

The Standard understands the club has lodged an appeal with the Warrnambool and District Cricket Association.

A WDCA board panel — minus president Nick Frampton and director Justin Balmer — will hear the appeal on Monday night.

The appeal comes after a WDCA match committee panel stripped Merrivale of 6.65 points for failing to name James Fary on its team sheet for the October 20 division one match.

Chairman Bruce Membrey, general manager Andrew Sloane and director Daryl Love also slapped a $250 fine on the club.

Opening bowler Fary was left off the Merrivale team sheet but came on to bowl the second over of the match.
