Cobden Week of Golf committee member Daniel Beard said the stableford event, which requires teams of three, had spots open despite a high volume of entries.
“We’ve amped up the exposure this year and the response has been fantastic,” Beard said.
“The course is just looking superb at the moment, too, it’s in mint condition. There’s been a great response from around the district.”
Beard said while a number of Cobden-based golfers were looking strong leading into the nine-day event, the race was open for success.
“Players on their home track have an advantage but the hole in one on the fourth – with the car up for grabs as the prize – is open to anyone,” he said.
"It could be anyone – it could be even someone who isn’t a brilliant golfer that walks away with a $24,000 car. It’s staggering.”
