SWC were bundled out of division two of the inter-association tournament by Yarra Valley Cricket Association, who bowled the South West out for 104, after posting a target of 138.

“Everyone is feeling a bit flat at the moment,” South West captain Todd Lamont said after the 34-run loss.

“We cant do much about it and it’s a bit disappointing. We should have got the score but we didn't.”

Lamont highlighted that the association’s batting was again its downfall.

“We didn't bat very well again today and that’s been the story of the week for us,” he said.

“Our bowling hasn't been brilliant either, but we should have been able to get 140 to get up today.”

“We put ourselves in a position to win it, but we lost early and steady wickets and we just couldn't string a decent partnership together, which has also happened over the last three days.”

Lamont stated there were not many high points to take from the disappointing week.

“There weren't too many highlights from this week, but our slower bowlers were probably the best for us over the week,” he said.

“Paul Vogels and Kyle McDonald were consistent all week, but there weren't too many standouts from our side this year and I don’t think any of us could say we had a good week.

“We had six new players get a taste of what country week is like and they know what the standard is if they get another opportunity.”

“Now we will turn our focus back to club cricket and then attack next years country week in division three and have a good crack at getting back up into division two.
