Cuddly one-year-old puppy Latte would like to start the day being greeted by a loving family.
The Chihuahua-Terrier cross is one of 30 dogs that are being offered at a reduced adoption fee of $29 at the Warrnambool RSPCA shelter this weekend.
Shelter manager Tracey Patterson said that all of the 80 cats and dogs would be available: “We are hoping to find a family for all of them,” she said.
This is the second year the RSPCA has waived the adoption fee for dogs and the first time that the program is being rolled out nationally. Previously, fees had been waived for cats.
Across the state, nearly 1000 animals will be put up for adoption.
Ms Patterson said all of the standard pet adoption checks will be carried out, to ensure that every animal is matched to the right family.
