The SWC were bundled out for 67, 199 runs short of BDCA’s target of 266, leading captain Todd Lamont to label the day as a ‘bad day’ and a ‘belting’.
“They were too good for us on the day,” he said. “It was tough work for our bowlers, but I thought they did well to keep the score from blowing out more.
“Our batting was ordinary, we just didn’t make enough runs or consolidated our wickets and they were able to get a steady flow of wickets.”
Lamont was the best of the bowlers taking 2-37, while Jeff Rosolin (14), Thomas Hunt (13) and Eddie J Lucas (10) were the only South West batters in double figures.
Lamont said his side was disappointed by the heavy loss and that they would need to regroup for a sudden death battle against South Yarra on Thursday, with the loser facing demotion to division three.
“It wasn’t our best performance with either bat or ball today,” he said.
“Hopefully we can bounce back and keep our feet inside division two.”
